We are often asked "Is Muskie good to eat"? And the answer is a resounding "YES"! We have found many delicious ways to prepare the large fish. The flesh is white and firm and the flavor is mild. We also like it fried in a beer batter.
I also want to add that most Muskies we catch, we release immediately after a quick photo. Occasionally, one will be hooked deep and the fish is injured. When this happens we will keep it and enjoy several meals.
Muskie is a little tricky to fillet due to the Y shaped bone in them but is another blog post.
Muskie Stew
1 lb muskie fillet cut into bite sized chunks
3 diced potatoes
1 large onion
